PROTECT. Ko-Cho-Line Leather Dressing by Carr & Day & Martin

Protect and preserve your leather with a rich, traditional leather dressing designed to help seal the surface and reduce moisture loss over time. Ko-Cho-Line Leather Dressing creates a protective layer that supports leather longevity, particularly during storage or periods of limited use.

Ideal for occasional use, it is best applied when additional protection is required to help maintain the condition and resilience of your leather goods in dry or demanding environments.

Apply sparingly using a soft cloth, working a light layer evenly across the leather surface. Avoid over-application to preserve the natural finish and feel of the leather.

A considered protective step in maintaining the long-term condition and appearance of your leather goods.

Features

  • Helps protect leather from moisture loss
  • Supports long-term storage and preservation
  • Suitable for occasional use as required
  • Creates a light protective surface barrier
  • Designed for use in the Buckle 4-Step Leather Care System

Care Guidance

IMPORTANT: This product is not suitable for use on suede, nubuck or aniline-finished leathers.

If your belt is made from full grain, vegetable-tanned leather, a simple care routine is usually all that is required. For a new belt in good condition, regular cleaning with a leather care sponge and occasional conditioning with a light application of Vanner & Prest Neatsfoot Compound is generally sufficient to maintain softness, structure and longevity.

If your belt requires additional protection, such as during storage or in dry conditions, Ko-Cho-Line Leather Dressing can be used sparingly to help preserve the surface and reduce moisture loss.

Carr’s Leather Oil is intended for intensive restoration only. It should be reserved for leather that is brittle, heavily dried or showing signs of significant wear, where deeper reconditioning is required to help restore suppleness.

These products may alter the appearance and deepen the colour of the leather as they are absorbed into the material. We always recommend testing on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure suitability.

Use sparingly and allow the product to fully absorb before wear, as overapplication may transfer onto clothing. We do not accept responsibility for any damage to garments resulting from misuse or insufficient absorption.

If you have a belt from our Solid Hide Buffalo (Top Grain) or Split Cowhide Leather collections, ongoing care is typically limited to gentle cleaning with a leather care sponge, with minimal need for additional conditioning products.

Our Handcrafted Process

Traditional techniques, modern excellence

It's all in the details. Since Buckle first began to produce braces in the 1920's and belts in the 1940's, our finely handcrafted accessories have remained our signature products, renowned for timeless style and Australian made quality.

We only purchase leather from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, ensuring responsible environmental practices and consistent leather quality.

Each leather is independently tested through Australian NATA-accredited laboratories to ensure quality, durability and composition meet our standards.

We only work with three grades of leather: full-grain, top grain and splits. What matters most is that we clearly disclose how each product is made and the grade of leather used. Each leather is chosen for its balance of durability, character and purpose across our range. Every hide is individually inspected for quality, strength and character before production.

Our Australian made braces are constructed using premium elastic sourced from Belgium, selected for its strength, comfort and long-lasting performance.

All hardware and fittings are chosen for durability and everyday reliability.

No shortcuts, no compromises. Just considered materials and enduring craftsmanship.

We’ve been making Australian-made belts and braces for over 100 years, and in that time we’ve learned a thing or two about what lasts.

We’re committed to supporting Australian manufacturing. That is keeping skills, production and craftsmanship local, while also working with Australian businesses across our supply chain wherever possible.

While materials and design evolve, the core techniques behind our craft have remained largely unchanged. Many of the machines we still use today have been part of our workshop for over 50 years, valued for their precision, reliability and the consistency they bring to every piece.

It’s this balance of heritage, local expertise and enduring methods that defines how we make everything we produce today.

We’ve been making accessories for over 100 years, and businesses don’t last that long unless they stand behind what they produce.

That’s why every piece we make is backed by a clear and considered warranty.

We offer a 5-year warranty on all full-grain vegetable tanned leather belts, and a 12-month warranty on all other products. These warranties cover manufacturing faults in materials and workmanship.

It’s a simple promise: if we make it, we stand behind it.

Ethical Craftsmanship

Quality with responsibility

We're proud to be accredited with Ethical Clothing Australia (ECA) for our Australian-made products. Our ECA accreditation demonstrates our commitment to ethical practices, fair treatment and safe working conditions throughout every step of our manufacturing process.

Our Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation is independently audited each year and provides verified assurance of ethical manufacturing standards in Australia.

While “Australian Made” confirms where a product is manufactured, it does not on its own guarantee how workers are treated or whether workplace conditions are independently monitored. Our accreditation goes further, ensuring full compliance with Australian workplace laws and modern awards through regular independent auditing.

This means we uphold fair wages, reasonable working hours and discrimination-free working environments for all craftspeople involved in producing our accessories.

By producing our accessories in Australia, we help support local manufacturing, skilled employment and the broader network of Australian businesses connected to our industry.

Where possible, we source materials and services locally: supporting Australian suppliers, workshops, freight providers and other manufacturers while reducing transport distances and unnecessary offshore production.

Manufacturing locally also means operating to Australian standards, paying Australian wages and taxes and contributing directly to the local economy that supports our business and community.

When you choose Australian-made products, you’re not simply purchasing an accessory. You’re supporting a broader ecosystem of local skills, jobs, businesses and manufacturing capability that deserves to be preserved for future generations.

Our approach to social responsibility is
built into every stage of our supply chain — from raw materials through to final production. We don’t rely on claims alone; we work with independently verified systems that monitor, audit, and confirm responsible practices from the very beginning.

We exclusively source leather from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, ensuring environmental
performance and responsible leather production standards are met at the source.

Our Australian-made accessories are produced under Ethical Clothing Australia accreditation, which is independently audited annually. This verifies compliance with Australian workplace laws and awards, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions and transparent local
manufacturing practices.

Across our textiles, we prioritise certified and traceable materials. Our cotton handkerchief and sock collections
use sustainable cotton sources, supporting more responsible farming and production practices. Our Merino wool sock collection is SCOPE certified, providing assurance of traceable and responsibly managed wool supply chains.

All buckles and fittings are Sedex compliant, supporting ethical trade practices and responsible sourcing standards across our hardware components.

Together, these certifications ensure our supply chain is not only considered, but actively monitored and
independently audited.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Our belts and braces are designed and manufactured in Australia using local craftsmanship and workshops. We support Australian manufacturing and comply with recognised ethical and production standards.

We also openly share behind-the-scenes videos and content showcasing our production environment, so customers can see exactly how and where our products are made. This level of transparency is not always provided by all brands claiming Australian-made status.

  • A common misconception is that belt size matches pant size. Our belts are made true to size, measured from the middle hole to the point where the leather meets the buckle. Please don’t reference an existing belt when sizing. Always take a direct measurement for the most accurate fit.

A full sizing guide is available on each product page, including a short video in the product description to help you choose the correct fit.

  • Our belts are made using carefully selected leather grades, precision construction methods, and durable hardware. Each piece is designed for long-term wear, comfort and consistent performance over time.

  • Yes. We accept returns on new, unused items within 30 days of delivery for change of mind, provided they meet our return conditions.

  • Full-grain vegetable tanned leather is the highest quality leather available. It retains the natural grain of the hide and develops a rich patina over time with wear.
